The hopper limit is in place to add some marginal form of difficulty to the Islands server. It was intended to be a more "challenging" and limited server from the release. I'm a bit confused by what you mean here. Are you referring to after the first trade locks, you don't receive a second one to use, or that the trades are not locking up at all. And the trades that villagers offer are always able to be used more than once, so if that's what you meant, then...

I've gone ahead and reported this to the owner, hopefully it will be fixed soon, for the time being I would recommend not connecting to survival.

While I agree with your general opinion, in order to achieve all 6 perks, it will cost $150, not $300, though that is still a extremely high price for 99% of players. I can't offer any other good ideas for fixing this perk at the moment, perhaps if I give it some more thought though.
