Hi everyone!

I have come to a certain realization about the Islands server.
As we know, a reset is coming soon and that Islands has been running for quite a bit.
I've realized that we have had a small influx of new players joining the sever. Some to just go AFK, some to play on Islands, and some that leave after a couple of minutes.
How does this relate to lag? Well, allow me to explain!
Whenever a lag spikes hit me, I usually check the chat to see if the spike is over, and I usually see that a new player has joined the game!
This has not happened once or twice, but almost every time I am on Islands.
I think that a mix of having an old server with a lot of data running and players constantly joining and leaving has something to do with it.

Let me know what you guys think! Do you agree or think that there is a different reason? Maybe multiple?

Maybe That is the lag cause, b/c when a player joins, the server must render the chunks around the player. This includes the data that stores the blocks, but for some reason naturally spawned mobs dont despawn, so that information is stored as well.
