Just a heads up, people usually sell decent pickaxes on ./ah so make sure to keep an eye out there, you can also enchant them yourself with 30 levels to get good enchants.

Diamonds aren't all that hard to come across... get a good iron pick and go quarry ~y=10, you'll come across some, especially around lava pits... also VOTE!! you'll eventually luck out and win some diamond blocks! Keep at it, you'll be knee-deep in diamonds in no time
