Hello you guys, I'm sorry but not to be one to nag, but I feel like staff needs to review and change punishments. I feel as if saying something in chat shouldn't get you banned, I mean for a first time offender atleast, but I think that chat related incidents should only get you muted, with some exceptions of like advertising porn and racism, but I think that the punishments should be reviewed, because they definitely need change. The punishment should be 1st time warning, 2nd time temp mute, 3rd time perm mute or temp ban. I feel as if staff should be able to erase chat messages. Thanks for you time!

P.s. the staff is great and friendly, I only have problems with the punishments <3

That's how almost all of the punishments are: First time is a verbal warning, second is BAT warn, third is a mute/ban.

However, different rules and punishments apply to different things. What you did to get banned is a 7 day tempban for the first offense. There is no warning. It's common sense to not do what you did. There are a lot of young players, and even older players in the community who do not want to see the type of stuff you posted in chat.

If you do this again, you will be permanently banned.

I strongly disagree Swaggy. If we perm muted players for their third chat violation more than half the server would be perm muted.

For the most part, chat violations already get only a mute, not a ban. There are exceptions such as advertising, ddos threats, and links to porn which result in a ban. There are no warnings for racism, homophobia and other types of hate speech. These are not tolerated and receive an automatic mute for the first offense. Additional offenses can result in longer mutes and possibly a perm mute or ban.

When you play on MineVast you agree to follow rules. Staff enforce the rules to maintain a fun and friendly environment. We have made a lot of progress in quieting toxic payers. We do this for the community.

But even with perm muting toxic players, we still have "good" players who remain clueless about how their actions affect others. Ordinarily "nice" players tell a suicidal person to kill themselves, thinking it is a joke. The grammar police nag others about spelling, typos and grammar, not realizing some players are dyslexic and already taunted at school for their disability. Players who are bullied in real life come to MineVast and bully in game, not realizing that many players come to MineVast just to get away from their crappy home and school lives. Boys harass girls to send them nudes, then "leak" them. Players who crave attention create drama every chance they get.

Staff deal with the above and so much more on a daily, if not hourly basis. I wish all the players who complain about unfair punishments, useless staff, and toxic players would spend more time showing compassion to other players and less time "joking" about suicide, bullying, bragging, correcting, harassing and acting superior to others. Every player has the ability to file a player report when they see hate speech, bullying, etc. yet few do.

Many of the players who complain the most need only to look in the mirror to see the real problem. I am not saying that applies to you swaggy, but it does apply to many of those who criticize staff and the punishments we give.

That's my rant for the month, maybe for the year.

Maybe I should be. I could bore the competition to sleep. It's just something staff hears so often. But most players don't realize what we are all dealing with while also trying to answer in game questions like why doesn't my spawner work or how do I make this jump. Then we get complaints about ignoring those questions while trying to solve problems other players are creating for no good reason.

I like being staff and don't mean to complain. Just wanted to give some people some things to think about. Unfortunately most of the people I'm talking about wont read the post. But maybe some of the "good" players will report the jerks a bit more often. Or understand why staff may seem to be distracted or "always afk". Most of us are just busy. Very, very busy.

I think the punishments are good enough. As purple said the whole server would be temp-banned/temp-muted. And if staff aren't on just use /report and the staff should look at it.

Tywone, did you even read my post? I clearly said that staff should have ways to erase chat or something maybe even word filters. But I'm not complaining whatsoever. I'm taking action, proposing change, trying to better the server. I'm considering a change, as best said by Clint Eastwood: "Sometimes if you want to see a change for the better, you have to take things into your own hands." But sometimes to do that you have to put yourself in an uncomfortable position to allow it. Which I am doing at this moment. Putting myself into that uncomfortable position, going against staff members, who'll probably ban me after this. But I mean I honestly love the server, community, staff, and everything about it to death, but I'm not going to sit around and pretend like I'm perfectly fine and dandy, while watching people get perm-muted for saying ONE word in caps. But I honestly put around 200 something dollars into this server alone, alot of people know me on the server, and most of the staff know me. I mean I usually get a staff member like Alex or Tywone on when nobody else is on and someone's spamming, you know just for a mute. I feel as if my punishment wasn't right. But you know what? I'm willing to accept my punishment because of how much I love this server. But this isn't about me, so let's get back onto the original topic. I mean I feel as if Minevast maybe doesn't have enough restrictions on what players say or do. I mean anyone can go into the parkour chat and say one sentence and get banned for it, because there is no restrictions that limit chat in there, allowing them to be those "toxic" players Purps was talking about. Maybe adding some restrictions would allow staff to not be so busy all the time, muting little kids, spammers, and/or banning hackers. Maybe even a "Buy a rank to chat in parkour" or something would work. I know, that would make you guys seem money hungry, but it would stop noobs from doing stupid things like spam. I mean atleast once a day a random noob join the parkour server, spamming until they get muted or banned, donors usually get the worst of it, spending money on the game just to get muted or banned from saying one thing... I've seen so many donors have this happen to them. Shoot! It happened to me! I mean maybe warnings are the problem, I mean if you get warned, a message in chat says something like "You have been warned," I think maybe people don't see them in chat sometimes, and other times I think that maybe they aren't taken seriously, you know? It's just a chat message. It doesn't do anything to faze you or anything that would really make you stop. Honestly if I got warned for doing something, I wouldn't do it again. Most of the time I see people get told to stop doing something by staff, they quit doing whatever that is, and then as soon as staff leaves, or maybe even the next day, the do whatever it is that they were told to stop doing the previous day. Warnings should do something like hold you in place for about 15 seconds with bold red text across your screen saying "You have been warned," and then under it in white "Reason: blah blah blah." Also maybe punishments might be satisfying for some people, like they come on the server wanting to be banned and muted... What if a staff member could just put someone on "ignore mode." It would pretty much put them into vanish and they wouldn't be able to chat. Also for griefers or people who do dumb things in creative, "ignore mode" would prevent them from placing blocks, breaking them, chatting, put them in vanish, and whatever else.

Guys, if I get banned for this, don't remember me as "The guy who got banned for wanting change," remember me for who I am, Quin or "SwaggyTigger," but honestly just remember I didn't get banned for nothing. I love you all <3

But half of the people who have played on this server have had that ending up happening to them... Banned... Muted...Due to one thing... The strict rules, sometimes to strict. Because I know damn well that the rules can and will be way too strict, but the rules aren't the problem, it's how they're enforced, maybe they aren't enforced enough or maybe even a good enough enforcement to make people stop doing certain things, it just makes them leave the server permanently, or maybe even makes them hold a grudge against the server, or even it sometimes gives them pleasure. I think that is the problem. Maybe we shouldn't acknowledge certain rule breakers the way they wanted to be. Maybe we should just have a way to block them out completely.

I read your post. I like your ideas; they're creative and I think that would have more of an impact.

The problem isn't the staff, punishments, or warnings. It is common sense to not say certain things and to obey certain things. If a player does something like post porn links or an IP to another server, they KNOW what's going to happen to them. All servers forbid posting IPs and inappropriate links. Yes, there are certain rules and limitations to chat. Some things are filtered, some are not. If a player chooses to be rude, racist, inappropriate, or whatever, then chances are, they know a punishment will follow.

You chose to post porn links in chat. It's common sense to not do what you did. You were being inappropriate and you knew you'd be punished for what you did. Doing what you did doesn't have the luxury of a warning. If you owned a server, would you let a player advertise another server or post inappropriate links in chat? You wouldn't let it slide. You'd put a punishment in place because that's the right thing to do.

You've been a member on MineVast for quite a while. You know the rules; you know you'd be punished for your actions.

No offense, but I don't see a point to your complaining, ranting, or whatever it is. You know you'd be punished. There's no point in arguing about this.

Tywone, what you're saying only applies to me, that's exactly what I don't want. I'm trying to make the server a better place, and you're trying to counter-react my arguments, by using something that is totally unrelated to this. If you want to pick me apart personally, you have my skype. But Tywone, this isn't about me. Pick apart my paragraphs and tell me ways that certain things would work or why they wouldn't. Just please stop going straight for my head.

Hey Quin,

You're literally all over the place with your argument. Take for example this;

You start by saying our rules, or the enforcement of our rules, are too strict but then you do a complete 180 and say that "maybe they aren't enforced enough or maybe even a good enough enforcement to make people stop doing certain things"... do you even read what you type before you type it? Its like I'm arguing with a 5 year old who doesn't know what she wants.

You say we're too strict but then also say in a previous post that "warnings do nothing, people miss them or just ignore them" but still complain when people are muted "without warning".

Literally ALL chat offenses require the offender to be warned before muted BAR two. Those two are; 1) Links to shock or porn websites and 2) Hate Speech such as homophobia or racism.

You're the one who broke those rules, you're the one who has to deal with the consequences. Stop trying to make this into a whole crusade like you actually care about anyone else. This whole post is not to better the people, its to better you. And nothing will come of it.

The thread is pointless, if you were able to word you argument in a way that would make sense I'd consider what you have to say. However, you didn't, so I wont.

>>Also learn how to use paragraphs to break up your statements otherwise reading your posts is like AIDs to my eyes.

Kind regards,

Dylan.

Morph... First I am a guy, and second do you even read what I said? Obviously you read some of it, but not all of it. Because I obviously stated that this isn't about me, third this is an argument, sometimes you have to change your arguments due to some of the things others state. So if you really want to argue, please come back after going through highschool a second time, because you obviously need it.

Kind regards,

Quintin.

I honestly just think you need to calm down. If you post a porn link in chat, You wont be warned, You should already know that. Be mature about what you say. Sure Ill take a temp mute for telling someone to fuck off, But you can just take the easy route and just log off.

Yes, I read everything that you said and its completely irrelevant. You stated that it isn't about you but it clearly is about you and continuing to say otherwise isn't going to convince anyone. Should I address your very first post then?

Hello you guys, I'm sorry but not to be one to nag, but I feel like staff needs to review and change punishments. I feel as if saying something in chat shouldn't get you banned, I mean for a first time offender atleast, but I think that chat related incidents should only get you muted, with some exceptions of like advertising porn and racism, but I think that the punishments should be reviewed, because they definitely need change. You just explained to me how you want to change the system yet this is EXACTLY how the the current system works. You get a warning (which you say in later posts is actually useless) and then you get a temp mute.. guess what follows after that? OH ITS ANOTHER TEMP MUTE! AND THEN ANOTHER TEMP MUTE!

Clearly it seems our system right now is currently more lax than the system you are trying to put into place, is it not? You want the third punishment to be a perm mute OR a temp ban yet the current system actually gives you more chances than that.

If you dont believe me here is a screenshot from my training document given to all new helpers; http://prntscr.com/ai20qi ... as you can see nowhere does it say that they're to give out perm mutes.

-- On another note, what good would clearing chat do exactly? Sure it'd get rid of the message that a player sent but are you saying you want to use this in lieu of punishment? That would be pure chaos if so. The chat would be cleared so many times by each staff that is on the server that it would just fuck up the whole social aspect of the server. People break chat rules constantly and thus the chat would be getting cleared constantly.

Now can I go back to where you stated in your reply to me that "this is an argument, sometimes you have to change your arguments due to some of the things others state." - Actually, you state in your very first post that "I feel as if saying something in chat shouldn't get you banned, I mean for a first time offender at least. I think chat related incidents should only get you muted." and then in the exact same post before anyone had replied you also write "The punishment should be ... 3rd time perm mute or temp ban".

Is it just me or does it seem that your argument is already all over the place before you even started? So clearly it isnt because you're trying to change your point of view due to someone elses posts.

Mess with the bull you get the horns.
Now, if you want to continue this I'd be more than happy to. I love a good argument in the morning and I can entertain you all day, just let me know.

Kind Regards,

Dylan.
