I’d personally advise against it, just in the event you or your friend change your minds for whatever reason, and it could go wrong for either of you. If you’re looking to claim next to each other to work together, you could simply join the same party.
It may create an awkward situation if either of you are suspected of border claiming and are unable to prove that either party agreed to it.
I think for your and your friends’ protection, either build a few chunks apart, or join the same party so you can work together. You could certainly DM a member of Survival staff for an additional opinion; this is just my personal suggestion to avoid any issues for either of you.
