Just keep trying and don't give up. If you really want something you need to work for it. That's what I kept telling myself when I was trying to get staff and here I am, 4 applications later.
Also have a little confidence in yourself. Do whatever it takes to get it. I suggest start with the forums. The more known you are here the more known you'll be around the server. Increase your time both here and there. And it's never had to give helpful suggestions and tips too.
