Since the temp fly update, you don't need to buy vip+, if you in the future want to be able to always fly, getting 10 cubits is a lot easier than gaining 20 :) Fly is as you mentioned the main reason why people choose to buy vip and not vip+, so if you only want a rank definietly stick to vip.

Lowering piston limit could be helpful. They might already have done that, decreasing the limit to 2k, but that is still a lot if connected to an ore gen. I've noticed a few changes to the stacking over the last couple of days, that could also be a solution to some of the lag problems, if done...

I've noticed when building my own, that redstone clocks doesn't function quite well therefore often turns off after a few pushes. I would recommend you tried using a hopper clock instead, which works for me.

I think it's safe to say, that generating massive amounts of ores all at once, and then in addition to that activates a ton of pistons, might very well have an impact on the server and it's tps. It is possible to make hopper clocks, but I don't think they're any kind of problem compared to the...
