Parkour is one of the most popular events in Minecraft. Almost every server you go on will have a Parkour course, each being extremely different and unique. The jumps change, the setting changes and the style changes. I'm going to share some useful tips for when you're next trying out a Parkour course :)

The Types Of Jumps

There are many types of jumps in Parkour. Some you only have to jump 1 block, and others can make you jump 4 blocks. You need to assess how long the jump is before you attempt it. Bare in mind that:

> Without sprinting, your minecraft character can jump 2 blocks maximum.
> Whilst sprinting, your minecraft character can jump 4 blocks maximum.
> Note that if you have a Potion of Swiftness, you CANNOT jump further! It only increases walking speed.
> Remember, just because you don't HAVE to sprint, it can sometimes be a good idea to be sure :)

So if you can see that the jump is 2 blocks long and 1 block high, you have a 3 block jump, meaning you must sprint. Here's some examples:

A jump has a gap of 2 blocks, meaning that sprinting IS NOT required.
A jump only has a gap of 2 blocks, but also rises 1 block, which makes it a 3 block jump, meaning that sprinting IS required.
A jump doesn't rise up at all but has a gap of 4. This is a 4 block jump, the maximum in Minecraft, meaning that sprinting IS required.
A jump has a gap of 3 blocks and rises up 1 block. This is also a 4 block jump and sprinting IS required.

Diagonal jumps aren't as bad as they seem, but they are a bit different. The maximum diagonal jump possible is one that doesn't rise at all and has a gap of 3 blocks in a diagonal direction.

Tips To Remember
>First of all, to get better, you have to practice. It can be stressful sometimes but you just have to stick it out to gett better! Remember, 'Practice makes Perfect'

> Sometimes there will be 4 iron bars or glass panes put together for a jump. Beware around these as you CAN fall through the hole in the middle. Always watch out for Iron Bar/Glass Pane jumps, they're usually there to try and catch you out!

> Remember to not rush! Judge the jump before you attempt it. You will get faster over time :)

> If you are getting annoyed by continual failing on Parkour, the worst thing to do is keep trying it. Parkour is meant to be fun! Take a break and come back to it later :)

> As frustrating as falling is, don't start cursing in chat. Let's keep Minecraft clean :)

I hope this thread helps some of you! ^w^ ~Tenshi
